One Day
48-HOUR CHALLENGE: Media Prompt
Listen to this song, One Day by Matisyahu.

The song One Day strikes a chord within me because of its message. It’s about wanting peace and love, and Lilliy Loidd 🪔 Author IconMail Icon could not be any more correct that this is the perfect song for today.

We need to end the racism in our country, or at least confront it so we can end it one day. It won’t go away just by protesting (that’s a great way to do it though) or posting something on social media (that doesn’t help very much); it goes away when we start talking about it and dealing with it. If teenagers and young kids can understand this concept and talk about or firmly say no to practicing it, why can’t adults? We learned all of this from you, you know. Racism is not something we are born with, it is learned and cultivated throughout our existence. And it’s wrong! I mean goodness, how hard is it to own up to the past or admit there is a problem in our country, one we’ve always had?

If a house had rats, would you ignore it until the home was unlivable? No. You would confront the problem, find a way to get rid the rats, and prevent it from happening again. That’s what we need to do with racism. So one day we can all be free and happy, in a land that is supposed to be free anyway.
