The "Blogging Circle of Friends " prompt for DAY 2043 Exactly how we transit from wakefulness to sleep still remains a mystery. Whether we fall asleep the minute our head hits the pillow or toss around until we drift off, we don’t really know exactly how this happens. Please share what tricks you have for a good night's sleep. To Sleep Perchance To Dream My sleep pattern is interesting. Sometimes I sleep through the entire night, and sometimes I sleep an hour or two, wake up, and than go back to sleep for another hour or two. Most of the time I wake up feeling rested. Sometimes I wake up feeling "bright eyed and bushy tailed", and other times I wake up feeling I need to about another five or six hours of sleep. It doesn't matter how I feel when I wake up, I always get up between 5:00 and 7:00 A.M. What are my tricks for getting a good night's sleep? I read from the sacred scriptures, say my prayers, take my evening med (not sleeping pills), eat chocolate, and put my prescription eye drops in each eye. I always put the eye drops in last because (I think) I need to close my eyes afterwards. I always check the time before putting the eye drops in, so that I know what time I can get up. I like to give myself five hours before putting my morning eye drops in. If I have trouble sleeping, I recite the prayers I know by heart or I silently talk to Baha'u'llah. Sometimes very loud, unusual, and unidentifiable noise wake me up. Some of the noise come from the studio apartment next door, so I attribute them to to the woman who lives there either having guest, redecorating, or having difficulty sleeping herself. Sometimes the noises come from outside, and it takes me a few minutes to decide whether its dangerous or just something weird going on in the neighborhood. The identifiable noises are party noises, gunshots, and the courtyard gate slamming (for some unknown reason my neighbors appear to want everyone in the complex to know when they arrive or leave in the middle of the night). |
