Serenity?
PROMPT: Fun Fact Friday! On this day in 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope sent back its first photographs. What would be the best part of space exploration if you ever had the chance to spend an afternoon there while taking pictures? I imagine the super silence would be a welcome diversion. Here on Earth it's never completely quiet; noise is all pervasive. Birds chirp, dogs bark, insects buzz, squirrels chatter, cats meow, vehicles belch, honk, screech and rumble, alarms shrill, phones warble/ring, sirens scream, music blares or soothes, and people sing, shout, holler, shriek, and speak. I believe the darkness would be a welcome change, too. No bright lights to stab my eyes. Feeling weightless, light and carefree might be a satisfactory sensory sensation. I've always had gravity bullying me and reminding me who's the boss. Instead of stumbling, I could float like a feather. The feeling of flying would be so freeing. I'd appreciate the me time; the opportunity to slow down and breathe, the chance to contemplate. I'm sure I'd be struck dumb, I'd be awed by the view of Earth. Our planet would be a glittering jewel reminding me of its wonders. The sheer size of outer space would indicate a vast frontier, and evoke curiousity. Are we alone in this universe?
