When You Know You're Awake and Asleep, You Don't Know
Prompt: Joy said when we are awake we know it but when we are asleep, we don't know. How do we know that we exist?
I went in for complicated bowel surgery and hernia surgery two years ago, I was on a breathing tube for six days. I knew I was asleep and needed to wake up. I dreamed I had a baby girl! I am past 50! I kept seeing my cat and my house when I was in my induced sleep. I kept seeing my husband. When they took me off the breathing tube, I was having trouble figuring out what was real and couldn't remember what happened before my surgery until a few months later.
I had surgery three weeks ago. I told Doctor no breathing tube this time. He said he would try to keep me off it. As soon as I woke up, I asked what day it is was and the date. I woke up then same day four hours later. This I can deal with. You would be surprised knowing that you are asleep and can't wake up. I never want to go through that again!
