The Herald It was the wind that woke me this morning. The ivy vines tapped desperately at my window begging to escape it wrath. The wind had found its voice, and the discordant tones howled at the windows making them dance to its command. The chronic wail had reached me in my dreams, to herald the oncoming storm. A warning of its anger. Outside, the clouds bubbled and roiled, carbonated by the wind’s bluster. The room suddenly lit up shaking the earth. And then, a vacuum of silence. An eerie calm settled over the room and it was if the world were holding its breath, waiting, waiting. The thunder roared one angry protest and then mumbled away into silence. As the raindrops began to fall, the wind rushed by on a forlorn breath. Warning of the storm once more.
