Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've updated my blog. These last couple of months have just flown by, and now I find myself playing catch-up here at WdC once again. I'll make this blog post a short recap of the last couple of months, if anyone's curious why I haven't been around much lately:

*Bullet* At work, my boss left the company back in mid-March. He was the head of our business affairs department and, since they never replaced the #2 executive in the department when he left last year, we were missing our two most experienced executives for a while there. We've now hired replacements, so the work load is finding its equilibrium again.

*Bullet* I'm currently in the process of negotiating an extension to my own employment agreement. At this point it's taken nearly three and a half months, but we're almost there. It's partially a function of bad timing (lots of film festivals and a busy buying season), the fact that I'm not a priority (had to close the new attorney deals first), and the fact that I'm asking for some very specific things that require some significant negotiation. That said, though, I'm hoping to reach an agreement and renew my contract for one or two more years... but this time with more favorable terms for my writing.

*Bullet* My wife had an interview for a job in Northern California which she was formally offered, but eventually turned down. Although she's having a hard time finding a job for the next school year down here, it just wasn't an exciting enough job to uproot our lives and move halfway across the state. She's starting to get calls about jobs down here and has an interview on Monday, so we're hoping the whole "passing up a guaranteed job" thing doesn't bite us in the ass for too much longer. *Smile*

*Bullet* I think I mentioned in this blog a while ago that I optioned a screenplay to a TV movie production company. In the past couple of months, I've been working on a rewrite of the script for them, have cashed a couple more checks (yay!) and are tentatively on track to have the movie shot later this year.

*Bullet* Thursday was my first day back in the office after and eight-day vacation in Paris with my wife. It's was amazing for many reasons, not the least of which was because it was my first vacation in over three years. All of the time off I've ever taken since starting this job has either been just a day here and there, or for some other non-relaxing purpose (funeral, wedding, moving, surgery, etc.). So the fact that we had a chance to travel a little, see some amazing sights, and sit around and do nothing for a full week was a blessed relief.

So, yeah, that's basically what's been going on over the past couple of months, and why I haven't been around as much as I would have liked. But I think things are slowly starting to sort themselves out and I'm looking forward to getting back into the middle of things here on WdC. I don't think you'll have to wait another 77 days for my next blog update. *Wink*
