Wishing For Resolution
Wishing for resolution
I live for the day I am given redemption
For the falsehoods of monogamy
Fate will bring you back to me
As I drop tears in the dirt like Hansel and Gretel dropped crumbs
Wishing you will follow them home

My ears peaked for the angelic sound of the phone
Ringing hope into my mind as I rush to it
As if a child dashing to the tree on Christmas morning
It is never you on the other end

Some days I walk aimlessly through my disparaged reality
Knowing that the tears that fall from my eyes
Are not produced by dry eyes in harsh winds
I smile when acquaintances walk by
Still laugh at stale humor
Still bask in the glorious beauty of women
As they pass by with lustful eyes
Hoping I will soon get over you

I eat alone as I stare into the empty seat
That holds the loneliness that has taken your place at my table
Still hearing your laughter in the air
Softly bringing to life my soul
As reality, once again, reminds me of its death
No Messiah to resurrect
No life support to sustain me
No miracles to make me believe

I sleep in haunted memories
Of your smile as it paints pictures in my head
As beautiful as any Monet with soft strokes
Fantasizing us as old folks
Still in love, still at peace
Still in bliss, my heart at ease
And I am awakened by my own knowledge of reality
Staring into the emptiness of time that seems to accompany me
Cursing pride and hating life
Wishing that I could undo what wasn’t right

I cry inside when I see violets
Lose myself in dolorous thoughts when I smell jasmine
Smile when I see a singles honey packet
Knowing how sweet you can be, hoping I can replicate through taste

The moon mocks me as I continue my journey aimlessly through the night
Looking for some way to escape my thoughts and free my mind
But now that I’ve lost you
I am shackled to the memories
Dragging it as if it were dead weight
No key to free myself
This is my burden
No hope for redemption
Knowing those dried tears
Will never bring you home
