Reflections

Two years ago I entered this wonderful world of Writing.com and fell in awe. There was so much to learn, to discover. The people were so helpful in their reviews and I learned new things every day...

Two years later I see this happen for newbies. I remember, just a few weeks ago that a new member of Writing.com said to me that poetry was foreign to him. *Bigsmile* You should see him now... hooked as he is to writing on the given prompts in The Writers Cramp, he tried... and at the end of that week he is the proud owner of seven different poems in seven different forms.

And that is what keeps being around on Writing.com interesting... grab the challenges placed before you in a contest; then write!

Sometimes it is good to take a short leave. For me it was only a day though... that we went up North to visit my parents in law. It has been a while, that we had the chance to visit them. It was pleasant, and in a way inspiring.

The environmental change did us good. You can see the children cheer up, while it is not that crowded. And the joy of having Spring break, while the cousins have to go to school is fun!

It refreshes the brain in a way; it gives you new things to think about, and to write about. Even a walk in the snow can be inspiring, and lead to wonderful poetry, or even a story. Take your time to go out when your muse asks for it *Wink* it will do you good!

Another unexpected surprise we had in the Spring break: Snow! Not the two or three millimeters we had earlier this year. In this case we had snow in centimeters! Three to five to be exact; that melted away during the afternoon, and fresh snow covered the earth again in the night and early morning. I took some photos with sunrise; and awesome sight! Unfortunately I don't have the space here to show them to you... ah well...*Wink*

What I missed this week were "my" freewrite prompts. Several known writing sites (for instance Writers Digest) provide prompts for every day of the month to get your spirits flowing. I usually find my inspiration in the Dutch writing prompts - strange enough they are also usable in English. I let the prompt go its own way; my thoughts are combining sentences and a story or poem is usually the result. Here on Writing.com there are quite a few prompts listed for you to get started. Take a look:
