Letter from the editor

Let me take a moment to introduce myself, a newbie editor, Beyond the Cloud9 Author IconMail Icon. I first joined Writing.Com in April 2002. I found the site while searching for a good read on the net. What I discovered was a plethora of wonderful authors!
I immediately signed up and posted a few stories and poems. It was not long before the rating and reviews began to come in. I not only found some excellent reads, I found a great community!

How can a Newbie (or anyone) get involved in this wonderful community? I thought you'd never ask! Oh wait, you didn't...but I'll tell you anyway!

1. Reviewing
Reviewing others' works will help improve your own writing by seeing new styles, ideas and mistakes. Reviewing also lets others know you are there, and sometimes returning the favor with a review of their own.

2. Contests
There are a large variety of contest. You can find a partial list on the Gift Point Tools pull-down menu, to the left of the screen. Contest will get your creative juices flowing, get you noticed, and help get you out of Writer's Block.
