Daily musings about my life. . . |
Ok here it is: my review of Voyager that I wrote
just after watching it. Seriously. I was all around quite pleased with the outcome of Voyager. The acting and the FX were outstanding and "Endgame" is definitely one of, if not, my favorite episodes. However, I did have some problems with the portrayal of the crew in the future: 1) Janeway: Ok if we figure that she is somewhere in her early-mid 40s/late 30s at the start of the mission, that would put her in the 70s range. Now, she did look 70..but didn't act like it. She was too nimble and agile. Granted, medical science made advances and that chip in her head helps quite a bit, but still... It was unnerving to say the least. 2) Harry/B'Elanna: At the beginning of Voyager, I felt that Harry was in his early 20s, while B'Elanna (and Tom) were towards the late 20s. Yet look at the aging. Harry is almost completely gray and his face is coming apart. B'Elanna has a few lines and streaks. Guess that Oil of Olay stuff DOES work. 3) Tuvok: First I have to say that Tim Russ is a wonderful actor and I think that he's done one of the best acting jobs on the show. In terms of Tuvok's appearance, I felt he looked too young. Now, yes, Vulcans live longer than humans and age better, but Tuvok was in his 100s at the beginning. Now, only a few streaks of gray have shown? 4) Tom: What can I say-It's the 25th century and they still can't prevent male pattern baldness. I did love the ending and any scenes with Tom and B'Elanna, which were so funny. But B'Elanna and all that running around-pregnant women are not that active so close to their due date. Did anyone see the look on Harry's face when they get back to the Alpha Quadrant?-He looks like he's going to burst into tears! The whole 7 and Chakotay thing was lost on me. It was too late in the series-it took Chakotay 4 years to think that 7 was hot. And what about that grave thing-seemed pretty hoky. The Borg Queen was cool especially with Alice Kriege from First Contact, but it seemed like Voyager was pushing its biggest Trump card. Limited Neelix viewing time-I was in heaven! It may sound like I'm completely busting on Voyager, but I really love the show. I'm going to miss it so much! Not to get all weird or anything but Voyager started when I was in the fifth grade and ended in my later high school years. I can't help but feel that a piece of my life is ending. ; ( But besides all of that I hope you all enjoyed the finale as much as I did. No other show can replace Voyager...but we'll have to see Enterprise to make sure. |
