5 - Break Free
Darrin smiled at her, she was leaning close to his seat at the bar. He knew her. She didn't know him. He was there, many nights, but no one notices the quiet guy sitting at the end of the bar watching tv. Cherylynn had it rough the last couple of years. Her husband smacked her around and she finally had enough and kicked him out. Thank goodness there were no kids. The kids are the ones that usually end up suffering.

Darrin supposed she hung out here out of loneliness. Was that the basis of marriage? Having someone to hang out with on the couch and watch movies together?

Because sex, well...that was everywhere.

Women sucked the life out of a man. Like his mother, all she did while he was growing up was drink and scream at him. High school girls teased and teased, they rarely put out. And the women here in the bar, they wanted you to buy them a drink. It was pretty simple. Buy them a drink or two...or three and get a free ride between their legs. And then get away before they start to cling.

She leaned closer. "Who did you vote for, yesterday?"

"Did you think any of the candidates were worthy of my vote?" Darrin turned on a charming smile.

"We could talk about it over a drink." She nodded at her empty glass.

And so the game begins.
