Hiding from the storm [Week 39 entry]
Hiding from the storm
Small clumps of hardened rain fell from the sky
convincing walkers shelter quick to seek
ere hail of growing size come from on high
and wreck umbrellas with metallic shriek.
Because my car I'd recently had bathed,
I looked both left and right to find a hide,
some place where I could keep my car unscathed;
I spotted one and quickly nipped inside.
Although the car wash bay had open ends,
its walls and roof were all that I required
as texts flew back and forth between my friends;
they shared some tales of doom the hail inspired.
Well, by and by, the hailstorm went its way
and left a gorgeous Colorado day.
Prompt: Shelter - Write a poem about a time you were thankful for shelter from a storm.
Form Note: Shakespearean sonnet (iambic pentameter and ABABCDCDEFEFGG rhyme scheme).
