Spectre


"Ectoplasm!" Spengler cries.
Apparitions. My, oh my.

A clanking chain, a throaty moan -
the barest clues you're not alone.

Step by step, you leave behind the day,
tracking now a hint of some decay.

A darkened corner in a musty room
conceals a misty something in the gloom.

Cold the air, your halting breaths in puffs appear
as swirling vapors nurture your rising fear.

A gauzy mist takes shape, reeking of death and rot.
"It cannot harm us!", and you're right - until you're not.
