Cometh the Spring? [Week 30 entry]
Cometh the Spring?
Meadows no longer play host to a fawn
cavorting young rabbits or something as nice.
Hawks overhead are on constant patrol
looking for meals they can snatch in a trice,
but snow's long since here and quick snacks are gone.
Mean Ol' Man Winter has really dug in
with ice in black patches and deep drifts of snow
that see careless drivers lose all control.
The cold never leaves and kids want to know
if, maybe, an ice age is set to begin.
Little by little, the sun comes around
bringing a warm breeze and starting the thaw,
showcased by prints in the mud from a paw
confirming that Spring once again has been found.
Prompt: Write a poem about a new beginning.
Form Note: The Busta Sonetto employs a rhyme scheme of a b x b a c d x d c e f f e using iambic pentameter or something similar.
