Scent of the season


An evergreen stands tall and proud
with lights and candles to banish the gloom,
the decorations brought by the crowd.
The scent cascaded into every room.

With lights and candles to banish the gloom,
some heavy hearts now fill with cheer.
The scent cascaded into every room,
refreshing all who'd gathered here.

Prompt: Write a poem based on this idea/feeling: 'The scent cascaded into every room.'
Form Note: A pantoum consists of quatrains with an initial rhyme scheme of ABAB. Follow-on quatrains use the 2nd and 4th lines of the previous quatrain as their 1st and 3rd lines, yielding a BCBC rhyme scheme, and so on. For the final quatrain, its last line is the 1st line of the series, and the 2nd line is the 3rd line of the poem (ZAZA). You may use as many quatrains as you like.
