High Waves
Little Bat decided to go out to the beach after eating some red fruit. She wanted to see the ocean up close. When she made it to the beach Roger the hermit crab called out to her. After talking for a little bit she flew high a distance and then headed over the water. A group of dolphins jumped out of the water nearby. Slowly she made it to where the dolphins were playing.

"Excuse me, but hello. My name is Little Bat. Can I play too?" Little Bat introduced herself to a smaller dolphin.

"My name is Lightning. I'd love to play with you. Watch out for the big waves," Lightning said.

Soon they started playing tag. Little Bat waited until Lightning jumped up out of the water to try tagging him. Suddenly a large wave came. Little Bat flew as high as she could. She succeeded in avoiding being hit by the large wave. Then she flew down to continue playing tag with Lightning. They both were having fun.

"Watch out, another large wave is coming. Try to outrun it," Lightning warned.

"I see it. I'll head to the beach," Little Bat said.

As the wave grew closer Little Bat flew toward the beach. The wave kept coming faster than her. Suddenly she felt teeth surrounding her as she ended up surrounded by the large wave. The mouth held her gently and Lightning warned her about going underwater. She held her breath as they hit the water. In what seemed like minutes Lightning rose up to the surface. Finally Little Bat could breathe again. When Little Bat flew out of Lightning's mouth a small wave barely caught her off guard. She recovered quickly from the small wave.

"I guess this is the time to say goodbye. I don't want to see you drowning from the big waves. Those waves can reach pretty high," Lightning said.

"It was a pleasure to meet you. I hope we can play again," Little Bat said.

"Next time. Family is calling," Lightning said.

Little Bat flew to the beach and watched the water. Then she saw a group of dolphins jump in the air saying goodbye. Heading to the ground for a little bit, she watched as large waves came near the surface. The tide was coming in quickly, so she had little time to rest on the sand. She flew into the air and headed for a palm tree. There she rested as the tide grew higher. After resting for a little bit then Little Bat headed back to the cave.

"How did your feeding go? You're all wet, what did you do?" Alicia asked.

"I played with Lightning, the dolphin. A large wave nearly got me but Lightning saved me," Little Bat replied.

"Oh dear. Next time don't venture out far over the ocean. The waves are dangerous. I'm glad you're safe," Alicia said.

"Can you tell me a bedtime story?" Little Bat said.

"Yes, I can. Let me think. I will tell you one about the waves of the ocean," Alicia said.
