Was the crucifixion of Jesus real?

One of the biggest events in recorded history was the crucifixion and subsequent resurrection of Jesus Christ. These events are not only recorded in the pages of the Bible and the writings of other religions, but they are eluded to and directly stated in the writings of historians of the period. The historian Josephus is considered the most reliable source because Josephus lived when the events actually took place. The writings of Josephus clearly show that the resurrection of Jesus was not only a clearly stated belief of many at the time of it's occurrence but that up to five hundred witnesses actually saw Jesus walking around and preaching after his death and resurrection.

An ancient historian named Thallus confirmed that the darkness that occurred at the time of Jesus crucifixion really did occur. The writings of Thallus are so ancient the don't even exist anymore. However the 2nd century Julius Africanus quotes Thallius who confirms the darkness really did occur. Thallius wrote in 55 AD, just 22 years after the crucifixion took place.

The Roman senator Tacticus confirmed in his writings of 56 Ad to 120 AD that Jesus lived in Judea, was crucified by Pontius Pilate, and that Emperor Nero wrongly accused Christians of burning down Rome.

There are several more historical accounts, but obviously history prov es Jesus was a real person who died just as the Bible says He died.
